Pulla

Pulla is a Finnish coffee bread. I'd never heard of it before we made it in class, but it is absolutely delicious! I have to say that I think the girls in our class had an advantage when it came to braiding the dough. The boys seemed slightly confused as to which strand to place where, but they got the hang of it. I loved this recipe and would definitely make it again. 

Royal Icing flowers


To help us decorate cupcakes or cakes we learned to make different types of flowers with royal icing. It was very difficult to make a good consistency if icing to work with but once you got that it wasn't too difficult. I found the roses very pretty but overall I think the daffodils were the prettiest. 

Cake stacks

The presentation of food is what makes it look appetizing to us. Realistically we would all prefer to eat a colourful masterpiece than a plain boring plate where you can't tell what's what. To practice out presentation skills we were put to the test by having to "stack" our cake and use chocolate sauce and whip cream to make it look creative and delicious. Here is my final product:
